The Namo Shetkari Mahasanman Nidhi Yojana is a financial assistance scheme launched by the Government of Maharashtra to support farmers. This scheme provides an additional ₹6,000 per year to eligible farmers in Maharashtra, supplementing the ₹6,000 received under the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, making the total financial aid ₹12,000 annually.

The initiative aims to improve the financial stability of farmers and help them manage agricultural expenses more effectively.

Latest Updates

The Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, announced that the state government will increase its contribution to the Namo Shetkari Mahasanman Nidhi Yojana (NSMNY) by ₹3,000. With this increase, eligible farmers will now receive ₹9,000 annually from the state government.

The initiative aims to ensure that beneficiaries receive a total of ₹15,000 per year. This announcement is expected to benefit over 91 lakh farmers across the state.

Application Process

While NSMNY does not have a separate application process, there are specific steps involved in ensuring you receive the benefits if you're eligible:

PM-KISAN Registration

The fundamental requirement for NSMNY is being a registered beneficiary under the PM-KISAN scheme. If you have not registered yet, you will need to complete this step first.

  • Fill out the registration form with accurate personal and landholding details.
  • Submit the form and save the registration number for future reference.

Land Record Verification

  • After registering for PM-KISAN, your land records will be verified by the local authorities (Village Level Officer/Agriculture Officer).
  • Ensure your land ownership documents (7/12, 8-A, etc.) are updated and readily available for verification.

Approval Process

  • Once your land records are verified, your application will go through an approval process at the Taluka, District, and State levels.
  • If your application is approved, you will be included in the PM-KISAN beneficiary list.
💡
Since NSMNY is linked to PM-KISAN, if you are found eligible for PM-KISAN, you will automatically be enrolled in NSMNY as well.

Required Documents

While there is no separate application for NSMNY, farmers should ensure they have the following documents readily available, as they might be required for verification purposes or future updates:

  • Aadhaar Card
  • Land ownership documents (7/12, 8-A, Ferfar)
  • Bank account details linked to Aadhaar
  • PM-KISAN registration details
💡
Ensure that your bank account is linked to your Aadhaar number. This is crucial for receiving the DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) payments under both PM-KISAN and NSMNY.

Check NSMNY Beneficiary Status

Once you start receiving PM-KISAN benefits, you can check your NSMNY status on the MahaDBT website: https://nsmny.mahait.org/.

  • After clicking, a new page opens, you are required to include the registration number or Aadhaar registered mobile number.
  • Then entering the number, you will receive the OTP on your registered mobile number, entering which you can get the status of the beneficiaries.
💡
If you don’t know your registration number, you can click on "Know Your Registration Number" and search using either your Aadhaar-registered mobile number or your Aadhaar number.

Key Objectives and Benefits of NSMNY

NSMNY is designed to address the financial challenges faced by farmers and empower them to invest in their agricultural endeavors. The scheme offers the following key benefits:

  • Additional Financial Aid: Eligible farmers receive an extra ₹6,000 per year under NSMNY. This financial assistance is disbursed in three equal installments of ₹2,000 each, providing a consistent source of income support throughout the year.
  • Simplified Eligibility: Farmers already registered and receiving benefits under PM-KISAN are automatically eligible for NSMNY, eliminating the need for a separate application process. This ensures a seamless and efficient disbursement of funds to deserving beneficiaries.
  • Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT): NSMNY employs the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mechanism, ensuring transparency and accountability in the distribution of funds. The financial assistance is directly credited to the Aadhaar-linked bank accounts of eligible farmers, minimizing delays and preventing any misappropriation.
  • Crop Insurance: Recognizing the vulnerability of farmers to unforeseen natural calamities, NSMNY provides crop insurance coverage at a nominal premium of ₹1. This safety net protects farmers from the devastating financial impact of crop losses, enabling them to continue their agricultural activities with greater confidence and resilience.

Eligibility Criteria

To avail the benefits of NSMNY, farmers must fulfill the following eligibility criteria:

  • Residence: Must be a resident of Maharashtra.
  • Land Ownership: Must own cultivable land.
  • PM-KISAN Registration: Must be registered under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme.
  • Aadhaar-Linked Bank Account: Must have a valid bank account linked to their Aadhaar number.
