Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY), launched in 2018, aims to provide free healthcare coverage to approximately 50 crore people by covering their hospital expenses at a range of hospitals. Each year, the program allocates up to ₹5 lakh per family for health insurance.

In this article, I'll explain in detail how to register or complete KYC for an Ayushman card if your name is in the Ayushman beneficiary list.

Online Registration

If you're eligible for the Ayushman Bharat PMJAY scheme and are looking to register for a card, follow the steps outlined below:

Step 1: Official Website Visit.

  • Navigate to beneficiary.nha.gov.in to access the portal. This is the starting point for applying for an Ayushman Card.

  • Use your mobile number and OTP to log in.

Step 3: Beneficiary Search.

  • Search using details like state, district, scheme name (PMJAY), PMJAY ID, Family ID, or Aadhaar number.

This step helps you find your record in the system. Selecting the search option will display your record, showing linked Ayushman beneficiaries with your Aadhaar number or Family ID. This also allows you to check your Ayushman Card's status—whether it's ready for download or marked as "Not-Generated."

Step 4: Applying for a Card.

  • Click the "Action" button to initiate your application.

Step 5: KYC Completion.

  • Fulfil your KYC requirements using Aadhaar OTP and upload a recent photograph.

Step 6: Additional Details

  • Input further information like your mobile number, date of birth, PIN code, district, and village.

When you register for an Ayushman card, a match score is calculated using Aadhaar eKYC and source information, which must be greater than 80%. If the eKYC request meets this criterion, it will be automatically approved, and the card can be downloaded after successful submission.

Step 7: Final Submission.

After entering all the details, hit the "submit" button to complete your application. After these steps, your card will be processed and, once approved, you can download it for use.

Offline Registration

Here are the key steps for Ayushman Bharat card registration:

  • Eligibility Check: The first step in the registration process is to check whether you are eligible for the Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY scheme. Eligibility is determined based on the Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC) 2011 criteria.
  • Visit the Nearest Health and Wellness Center (HWC): Eligible individuals can visit their nearest HWC or Common Service Center (CSC) to initiate the registration process.
  • Provide Necessary Documents: During registration, you will be required to provide essential documents, including:
    • Aadhaar Card for identity verification.
    • Ration Card or other family identification documents.
    • Mobile number for communication purposes.
  • Biometric Authentication: At the center, biometric authentication will be done using your Aadhaar card to verify your identity and ensure accurate registration.
  • Ayushman Card Generation: Once the verification process is completed, an Ayushman card will be generated, which can be downloaded from the official PM-JAY website. The card provides access to health services under the scheme.

This process ensures that eligible families and individuals are registered and can avail of health benefits under Ayushman Bharat.

For Rural Beneficiaries:

  • Families living in one-room houses with mud walls and roofs.
  • Households without any adult male members aged 16-59.
  • Families that have disabled members and no able-bodied adults.
  • SC/ST families.
  • Landless households that rely on manual labour for their livelihood.

For Urban Beneficiaries:

  • Individuals who are waste collectors or beggars.
  • Domestic helpers.
  • Street vendors, cobblers, and hawkers.
  • Construction workers, including masons, plumbers, and painters.
  • Cleaners, sanitation workers, and gardeners.
  • Home-based workers such as craftsmen and tailors.
  • Transport workers, including drivers, conductors, and rickshaw pullers.
  • Shop workers, assistants, and waiters.
  • Electricians, mechanics, and repair workers.
  • Laundry workers and watchmen.
